You're Not Listening Book

reading a self help book

Reading is one of the best ways to expand your mind. And I don’t mean just nonfiction knowledge books. I have this thing where I like to read 3 books at the same time and I go by 3 categories: information, inspiration and imagination — factual books that teach me things, self-help like books/autobiographies of interesting and successful people and fiction.

This gives me variety for my reading times – I get kinda bored of reading the same thing and sometimes I want to read something that I learn from, other times I’m looking for inspiration and then there are times when I just want a story.

An amazing self-help book

So my most recent information book for the inspiration category was You’re Not Listening by Kate Murphy. My friend Fran recommended it to me and then in a not so unpredicted plot twist Nick had just started reading it at pretty much the same time so when he and I started talking we had that in common.

Honestly, it’s such an amazing book to read even if you consider yourself to be a good listener because the truth is there’s always a lot to learn.

Ms. Murphy captures the reader with a friendly and dynamic tone taking you through chapters with wonderful and knowledgeable sources that provide tools to become a better listener.

You learn how to ask the right questions, what to watch for in conversations, how to know what's important and what you can do to be able to fully listen.

If you pay attention and start implementing the ways of listening that the book recommends, you'll see a shift in your way of interacting, the conversations you have and the relationships you build.

Purchase it on Amazon or my favourite site is Alibris.
