Everyone should have a pair of black jeans imo. They’re classics and so fucking versatile you really can’t go wrong with them. They’re like the sweatpants of denim. I found the perfect pair at a thrift store and you know when you put on a pair of jeans and just think holy fuck it’s like these were made for me? That’s what it was like.
Purchasing and styling
The amazing thing about black is that it really will look good on anyone. It’s one of those colours that are perfect and will make you look clean cut without even trying. And in reality, you can wear it with anything and look hot af.
The main thing about jeans is really the fit. And the annoying truth is that different brands will have slightly different ways of fitting even with the same size number.
Denim Fits
You really want a pair of jeans that fits comfortable in the waist and the crotch. When it comes to the waist, think about how you would feel in them after you eat or if you had to walk/sit for a long time. Crotch too - you want support but also enough space so that it doesn’t dig in where we don’t want it to when you move.
Forget trends and focus on the fit. High waist jeans may be your thing or they may not be. What you really want is a pair that fits you well and comfortably. For this go to a store (doesn’t necessarily need to be where you want to buy jeans from if it’s not accessible) and try on all the different cuts and styles just to see which one you like the feel and look of.
Play with shapes. Skinny, flares, wide, extra wide jeans. See which ones work with your body. If you’re curvy you may want to go with more fitted jeans and if not, go for a looser fit that’ll give you more shape.
If you like a pair of jeans that fits you super well and you love them but they’re a little long just take them to a tailor and get them hemmed. Tailoring clothes may sound like it’s a pricey thing but it’s really not that bad especially if you’re going to wear that item a lot. The prices I’ve seen are usually between $10-$20.
A great thing to do too is find a brand(s) that fit your body type and stick with them. That way too you can then order jeans online.
